Fourier's soft-shelled 'Care-bot': the first full-size humanoid marketed primarily as a companion rather than a worker.
The main field guide selects 14 companion robots for deeper review. This entry belongs to a separate 53-record index that also covers industrial, research, and developer systems.
The GR-3 is Shanghai-based Fourier's third-generation humanoid and a deliberate break from the industry's warehouse obsession: 165 centimeters, 71 kilograms, wrapped in warm-toned soft materials, with expressive eyes and multimodal interaction aimed at companionship, rehabilitation support and assisted living. Fourier, which built its reputation in rehabilitation robotics, calls it a Care-bot.
China pre-sales opened in September 2025 with deliveries starting from October 2025, making GR-3 one of the few companion-positioned humanoids actually reaching customers, mostly institutional buyers. Pricing is murky: figures between roughly $27,500 and $80,000 circulate from third-party trackers, and Fourier publishes no official number. The robot made its US debut at CES 2026.
GR-3 pairs 55 degrees of freedom with a full-body touch-sensing skin concept and Fourier's rehabilitation heritage, a plausible foundation for care roles that remain, for now, demonstrations rather than validated clinical use.
