A fox-faced character robot balancing on a ball through Paris hospitals, from a co-creator of Pepper and NAO.
The main field guide selects 14 companion robots for deeper review. This entry belongs to a separate 53-record index that also covers industrial, research, and developer systems.
Miroki (and sibling Miroka) are the Mirokai, character robots from Enchanted Tools, the Paris startup founded in 2021 by Jerome Monceaux, co-creator of NAO and Pepper at Aldebaran. His diagnosis of why social robots failed commercially was emotional, not technical: people never fell for them. The Mirokai answer is a fully art-directed creature, a fox-eared animated face on a body that glides balanced atop a sphere.
Underneath the storybook design is practical service robotics: grasping and carrying small loads, navigating corridors and delivering items, aimed at hospitals, hotels and events. Paris hospital trials (including within the AP-HP system) have tested Mirokai in logistics and patient-facing roles, and the company has courted healthcare partners across Europe and the Gulf.
Pricing is unpublished and units move through pilots and partnerships. Miroki is this database's clearest test of whether character design, rather than realism or utility, is what finally makes people welcome a robot.
